Nagaya Beach is on the North Kahshe Lake Road about one kilometer from highway 11. It is owned by the Town of Gravenhurst and the KLRA. Currently the KLRA leases the part of the beach that the Town owns.
This beach has been a focal point for residents of the North Kahshe Lake Road for many years. Stories in The Healing Waters of Kahshe Lake tell of the days when people would rent a cottage across the road from the beach and the family would trek down to the sand for the day. In many cases, the mother and children would stay up all summer, while the father commuted to the city for work. There is a pump at the west end of the beach that used to be the source of water for some of the nearby cottages.
Today the KLRA pays to maintain this beach for members and their friends. The KLRA has built the rafts and hired a local couple to clean the area. The KLRA also pays the rental of the portable toilet placed near the public dock.
Annual Regatta
Since the annual regatta has been resurrected by Johnette Ollman, the beach is well used for a day in August. At other times, people drift by to sit on one of the memorial benches and watch their children paddle in the water.
