Kahshe Heritage Lands
This committee was
created to “work with the Muskoka Heritage Foundation to preserve designated
lands around Kahshe and Bass Lakes , to look for available shoreline that could
be better protected in a land trust to look for alternate methods of encouraging
private land owners to conserve their shoreline properties in their natural
state."
Goals
- To coordinate activities with the Muskoka Heritage Foundation.
- To
understand what properties are sensitive and should be priorities and to assess
what options are available to the KLRA Board.
- To
encourage private land owners to consider the benefits of setting aside a
proportion of large shoreline properties to be conserved in their natural state
in perpetuity
Strategies
- Identify
and apply the strategies of the Muskoka Heritage Foundation to Kahshe and Bass
Lakes.
- Analyse
the Lake Study to decide what properties are sensitive.
- Carry
out a study to understand the various options that exist.
- Identify
owners of large lots.
- Pursue
mutual information sharing on options that may be available to achieve the
objective of maintaining them in their natural state.
- Organize an information workshop for any
interested residents, targeting especially those residents with undeveloped shorelines.
