We need you!

We need a lot of members (and a little bit of money from each).  When it comes to our Advocacy role with municipal and regional governments, member numbers are important - this is a proven fact. Please join us.  It's important and membership is a great deal.

Why be a member of the KLRA?

Safety

Rock Markers: Maintain the buoy system that identifies many hazards around the lake.

Safety and Security: Contact local governments to ensure safe conditions at dock facilities and on the lake.

Social Events

Regatta:  Held annually with a focus on fun and participation. Free to all.

Housey’s Rapids Picnic:  Located on the east side of the lake, an annual fun event for all.

Photo Contest: Open to all members.

Fishing Derby: Participants 14 years and younger participate and vie for prizes and trophies.

Connect: with other residents and cottagers at our events or committees.

Volunteer Recognition:  Annual award to an outstanding volunteer.

Recognition of Business Friends

Education

Educational Opportunities:  KLRA provides support and/or a venue for educational opportunities such as canoe lessons, as well as environmental and other beneficial programs.

 FOCA workshops, webinars

Published history of the lake:  “The Healing Waters” is a valuable record of the early years and sold for a modest fee.

Conservation

Lake Plan Management: We influence policies regarding water quality, fisheries, lake levels and shoreline protection.

Monitor Lake Water Quality: Clarity and phosphorous testing is recorded each year during the spring, summer and fall.  As well, bethnic monitoring occurs during the summer. A history file is maintained.

Our Motto:  “Dedicated to the preservation of the environment for future generations” says it all.

Nagaya Beach:  KLRA owns property (Nagaya Beach) and is maintained for the Kahshe community to enjoy.  Major costs are associated with the beach (taxes, maintenance, swim rafts, toilets and insurance). 

Advocacy

Maintain the value of your home and property. KLRA monitors development and policies to ensure  they do not negatively impact on the beauty of our lake and subsequently on real estate values.

Link with Decision Makers:  KLRA provides input into local politics regarding important matters such as municipal services, development, taxation, water quality, etc. 

Representation on Various Larger Organizations:   KLRA has representation at The Federation of Ontario Cottagers (FOCA).

Regular Newsletter: “The Krier"

Website:  Sign-in access to "Members" section 

E-mail Blasts: To all members of important and timely information

On-line Forum: Members can carry on discussions, ask questions or buy and sell items.

Events Calendar:  “Summer at the Lake” distributed to all.

Annual Members Meeting and Presentations

Good Neighbours Handbook: Written specifically for our lake. Provided free when you join the KLRA, with updated editions as they are created. 

Shopping and Saving

KLRA Boutique:  Present at many events around the lake and provides you the opportunity to buy clothing, the Kahshe calendar and other items that show your love of the lake at a discounted rate. 

On-line Shopping: Allows you to buy items and have them mailed to you.

Discounts: Our FOCA membership allows you discounted rates for cottage insurance and Cottage Life magazine.
