As was reported on the KLRA ‘News’ portal about this time in 2021, there have been recent reports this year noting the presence of pea-sized, jelly-like globs in the waters of Kahshe Lake. These are native zooplankton known as water fleas (Holopedium glacialis), and they are now crowding out the previously abundant Daphnia species of water fleas in a process referred to as jellification.
